Total Eclipse is a futuristic action-adventure game set in 2099, where an alien race called the Drak-Sai are threatening humanity by destroying Earth and the Sun. The player controls a FireWing aircraft through 20 missions, with a unique behind-the-craft perspective that allows for left and right movement.

The gameplay is angled towards on-rail shooting, with three levels of power for each weapon that can be used by the craft. The game features pre-rendered cut-scenes to tell the story, with a style reminiscent of 3D textured mapping.
