The playoffs are a tournament where the home team competes against fifteen other teams for the Stanley Cup trophy. The game goes on without breaks until it's won. You can resume the playoffs at any time with a password.

There's also the Sevens mode, which is similar to the New Playoffs but uses a different rule to progress. And then there's the Shootouts mode, where you play from the goalkeeper's perspective.

You can adjust the rules for penalties and game time, check the current league standings, and plan your games using a calendar set to a specific date.
