Practice Mode
Master every car in your garage! In Practice Mode, you are the only car on the course, allowing you to race as much as you want. You can increase the difficulty by adding a "cone" or "sign" from the "Obstacle Type" option. Steer according to the arrows to avoid these obstacles; hitting a cone earns you an error point. You can also design your own custom stage to advance your skills.
How to play Practice Mode:
•
Select the obstacle type: Choose from off (no obstacles), cone, or sign.
•
Designate the distance: Choose 100, 80, 60, or random distances between obstacles. Note that random distances change randomly.
•
Start: The mode runs continuously until you press START to pause.
During Practice Mode, you can access car and game settings by pressing the following buttons:
•
L Button: Switch to the "Garage" menu.
•
R Button: Switch to the "Setup" menu.
Quick Race Mode
Experience the fastest way to fly off the start line! The rules are simple: go fast and win. This mode is ideal for anyone looking for fast action and is easy to play. Choose your favorite destination and stage, then start racing.
You must beat the clock as you race to each checkpoint along the stage. If you pass all eight checkpoints before time runs out, you will move on to the next stage.
Initially, you will find only five tracks/stages available. Clearing all five of these tracks will unlock an additional five tracks/stages.
Time Attack Mode
Beat your best stage times! Nothing sharpens your racing skills better than racing against your previous best times. Start by selecting a stage, but note that only courses you have already reached by playing Championship Mode are available. If you have not completed anything yet, you will only be able to race in "Overland Valley."
You can review your top three times. If you save your score, it will appear as a ghost driver the next time you race. You can only save one score for the ghost driver.
How to play Time Attack Mode:
•
Choose your track: Remember that only tracks reached in Championship Mode are available.
How to Play Championship Mode
Do you have the skills to be a rally world champion? Championship Mode is the driving soul of Top Gear Rally. To win, you must finish in the top three of each stage and complete the Amateur and Professional leagues. This accomplishment earns you a ticket to the Top Gear World Series, the biggest and most challenging racing series on any portable game system. No matter which league you are racing in, you always start in the last position on the grid. You must pass other racers and earn enough points to move on to the next course. To win it all, you need to finish first in all three leagues.
League Structure
•
Amateur League: 10 Races (30 stages total).
•
Professional League: 15 Races (45 stages total).
•
Top Gear World Series: 20 Races (60 stages total). Each race consists of three stages. Points earned depend on your finishing position in each stage: 1st Place earns five points, 2nd Place earns four points, and 3rd Place earns three points. You must earn the minimum required points for your league before moving on to the next race.
