Introduction
The year is 420 AD. You are Gawain, a young knight in Albion (Britain), about to join King Arthur's Order of the Round Table. Your mission is to destroy the evil sorceress, Morgana La Fay, before she destroys Camelot and all that King Arthur has created.
Morgana will try to kill you, so be nimble, quick, and ruthless. The future of the kingdom rests on your shoulders. These tips are your basic survival kit, your second parachute, and your lifeline to success. If you get stuck or have a problem, you'll find the solution here.
A Helpful Word From Wilf
Allo! Wilf the Stable-Lad here. I arrived at Camelot as a nipper, with nowhere else to go after my parents died. It suited me fine, a nice warm place to rest my head every night.
I liked the King straight off, even though he didn't have much time for a simple stable-lad like me. He had his own problems, keeping the country quiet and dealing with Morgana.
Morgana La Fay
Morgana is quite mysterious. She has her own castle at Lyonesse, near Tintagel. There are many rumors and stories about her.
Some say she's in league with the Devil, dabbling with black magic. Men flock around Morgana like bees 'round honey. I don't see much of her, as she's locked away in her rooms. Getting past her guards is like talking to a brick wall, and the porter guzzles ale like there's no tomorrow.
Merlin
You could write a book about Merlin! He's temperamental, one day happy, the next sour as old milk. Merlin has his own secrets and mysteries.
Who knows what he does up in that tower of his? Not me, and I don't want to know. He's not a bloke to be mucked around with; handle him with caution. He's hard to find, but you can always ask someone.
Lady Guinevere
The Lady Guinevere is the King's wife, and she's pretty as a picture. Many times I've seen blokes turn and look at her when she walks through Camelot. I reckon if the King caught them, he'd chop off their heads, and who could blame him?
It's not my place to comment on such things, but between you, me, and the stable door, I've seen a few things. My lips are sealed; I'm not one to tell a tale.
Sir Lancelot
Sir Lancelot is a real nobleman, but he has a temper. He's moody, as if something is gnawing away at him.
But brave? Phew! I reckon Lancelot would ride into the gates of hell itself if the King commanded him to.
The Blacksmith
The Blacksmith works in the smithy near the stables. He's a bad-tempered bloke, banging away at his forge all day, churning out suits of armor by the dozen. He's surrounded by old junk and clutter, unfinished bits of armor and the like.
He's a useful bloke to know, full of gossip. If a mouse moves in Camelot, he knows about it. He's also fond of his drink. I try to keep out of his way most of the time and keep my nose to the grindstone.
Camelot
Merlin built Camelot with his magic, in a matter of days, they reckon. He made a fair job of it. Camelot can be a strange place, so take some tips from me.
If you want to find somebody, it pays to ask around. Keep your eyes skinned, or you might find yourself walking around forever! Camelot is dark, so try to find a lantern or candle if you can. Otherwise, you might go bumping into that evil Morgana in the dark!
Gawain's Arrival
Anyway, then this young bloke, Gawain, arrived at court. A real nobleman. I took to him straight away; he always had time for a word or two. Not many Knights around here would spare a minute talking to a simple stable-lad like me.
He arrived at Camelot to be Knighted, and no one deserved it more than him. All kinds of Lords and Ladies arrived at court for the ceremony. The maids were busy in the kitchen for days before, preparing a feast the likes of which you've never clapped eyes on in your life!
Wilf's Advice
I'll tell you something, in private, like. A word to the wise, you might say. Nothing much happens around here that escapes my attention. You want to know something? Come and ask old Wilf.
