SPECIAL ATTACKS
Some special attacks require additional commands after launch. An onscreen graphic will prompt you.
Power-Up Attack
When you see this graphic, push controller buttons or rotate an analog stick as quickly as possible. You have limited time to build power. The faster you "mash" buttons, the greater the attack. A higher bar on screen means more damage.
WISDOM OF KING KAI™
Avoidance is the key.
Dodging or interrupting powerful attacks is crucial. Tap Guard (X button) plus up or down to jump sideways. Try to attack while your opponent is powering up. Good reaction time can avoid devastating attacks.
Push-Back Attack
When an opponent launches an attack, you can try to repel it. When you see this graphic, rotate an analog stick or push buttons quickly. Characters will battle in a reverse tug-of-war. The player who generates more power wins. If the attacker wins, they deal major damage. If the defender wins, damage is minimal.
Surprise Defense
Defenders can negate special attacks. When you see this graphic, both players must press X, Square, Circle, Triangle, or no button. If the defender presses the same button as the attacker, they avoid some damage.
Ultimate Attack
Some attacks, like Yamcha's Spirit Ball, are so powerful they require an additional button combination. Press the right buttons in the correct order for major damage. Fumbling will cause the attack to fail. SAVING AND LOADING
All progress, including unlocked story chapters and skills, is saved automatically when you start a new game. You need an 8MB PlayStation®2 memory card with 70KB free space in slot 1.
You can only save one game per memory card. Selecting New Game with existing data in slot 1 will overwrite it. You cannot save progress to a newly inserted memory card if the original was removed.
To save, select Options from the Main Menu, then Save / Load, then Save Game Data.
To load, select Load Game at the Load Game / New Game screen after the game starts. Alternatively, select Options from the Main Menu, then Save / Load, then Load Game Data. You need a memory card with a saved game in slot 1.
