Edit existing riffs by selecting them in the TRACK WINDOW and accessing the RIFF EDITOR, where riffs are broken down into component samples for modification. Create new riffs by placing the pointer over a blank area in the Track Window, opening the menu, and selecting the RIFF EDITOR icon.

Samples are picked up from here and dropped into the riff. Samples already used in riffs are pre-loaded, and more can be added from the SAMPLE LIBRARY.

Click on the keys of the piano at the top of the Editor to hear the pitch. Placing a sample below a key specifies its pitch in the finished riff.

Point to a blank row in the RIFF EDITOR, call up the MENU, and click CLEAR SETTINGS.

After a user-created riff is returned to the RIFF PALETTE, point to it, call up the menu, and select RENAME RIFF to give it a more descriptive name.

Place a sample in the RIFF EDITOR, define its length, then select NOTE AUTO CHORD from the menu to automatically create a chord based on the selected type.

Place a sample in the RIFF EDITOR, define its pitch, then select an area and choose ARPEGGIATOR from the menu to create a sequence of notes played separately.

Modify individual characteristics of a sample by selecting NOTE VOLUME ENVELOPE, NOTE PITCH ENVELOPE, or NOTE PAN ENVELOPE from the menu. These can be applied to single or multiple samples.

Defines the loudness of a sample over time, allowing for changes like a sample starting quiet and becoming loud.

Allows the pitch of a sample to change over its duration, such as bending from a high pitch to a low pitch.

Defines which stereo speaker a sample is played through, enabling sounds to travel between speakers or pulse.

Moves the start point progressively later in the sample each time it's played in the riff, creating rhythmic and echo-like effects.

Plays a sound with a random factor added to imitate the slight variations in pitch and volume of a human performance.

Select an area in the RIFF EDITOR and record notes in real time as the screen scrolls.

Access this function by clicking a note in the RIFF EDITOR and selecting NOTE PARAMETERS from the menu to alter most attributes of an individual note through a single interface.

Within NOTE PARAMETERS, click on the waveform to specify a later point for the sample to begin playing instead of the default beginning.

In NOTE PARAMETERS, the green key represents the current pitch; click another key (highlighted red) to bend the note's pitch evenly over its duration.

Refines the application of effects by allowing you to specify at what point in a sample an effect can become active.

This means that the note will be played from this point (without any effect applied). You can also specify which part of a sample is played.

This means that this part of the note has no TRIGGER specified. If any TRIGGER earlier in the sample is set to ON or ON WITH REVERB, the sample will still play across this section.

An ON WITH REVERB TRIGGER specifies at which point in a sample instructions from an EFFECTS block in the TRACK WINDOW will be accepted.

Turns the sound on or off.

Activates sample instructions for rear speakers if you have them fitted (e.g. Surround Sound systems).

Specify the Volume that each individual note is played at by clicking on the slider, helpful for creating echo effects.
