MotoGP 08 is the successor to THQ's motorcycle racing game MotoGP '07 and features the full licensed (18 tracks, 77 drivers and bikes) MotoGP, 250cc and 125cc classes, based on a 5-year deal with Dorna Sports that grants Capcom the worldwide rights for all hardware platforms.

The gameplay in MotoGP 08 revolves around the career mode, where the player creates a character, chooses a bike and helmet, and starts in the 125cc class with the goal of racing to the top of the MotoGP class in five years. The player can earn career points by winning races, which can be invested into bike upgrades to improve speed, acceleration, braking, and traction.

The game also features various other modes, including:

Time Trial - Beat the time records on different tracks.

Tournament - Create a driver or choose a driver from the 2008 season to compete in a series of races.

Challenges - 50 challenges in seven categories demand a great deal of skill to unlock additional game content.

The game includes a multiplayer mode for up to 12 players, which is exclusive to the PlayStation 3 version. MotoGP 08 introduces new tracks and features night racing at the Qatar circuit, making it the first in the series to be released on the PS3.

MotoGP 08 was released on October 24, 2008, for the PlayStation 3 console.
