MotoGP 08 is the successor to THQ's motorcycle racing game MotoGP '07 and features the full licensed classes, based on a deal with Dorna Sports that grants Capcom the worldwide rights for all platforms. The game includes 18 tracks, 77 drivers, and bikes from the MotoGP, 250cc, and 125cc classes.
The game's career mode is its main focus, where players create a character, choose a bike and helmet, and start in the 125cc class with the goal of reaching the top MotoGP class in five years. After each successful race, players can unlock new content and invest in bike upgrades to improve speed, acceleration, braking, and traction.
The game offers various modes, including:
Time Trial - Beat track records on different tracks.
Tournament - Create a driver or choose one from the 2008 season to compete in a series of races.
Challenges - 50 challenges across seven categories demand great skill to unlock additional content. Examples include staying within speed limits and winning one-on-one duels on track sections.
The game features multiplayer mode for up to 12 players, available on the Xbox 360 console, with new tracks like US Indianapolis and night racing at Qatar circuit.
