Adventures of Batman & Robin , released in 1994 for the Super Nintendo, is a beat'em'up title where the Caped Crusader takes on his most famous enemies in a mix of platforming and combat.
The game's eight levels take Batman against one villain at a time, with each level presenting him with henchmen to defeat and environmental dangers to avoid. However, some levels deviate from this norm, such as Catwoman's stage, which is a high-speed chase over Gotham City's rooftops, or the Penguin's level, where Batman must navigate the museum's corridors to rescue staff. Two-Face's level is also unique, featuring a driving sequence seen from a top-down perspective.
Aside from basic attacks like kicks and punches, Batman has access to various equipment to take down enemies, such as Batarangs and a grappling hook. Before each mission, he can choose additional gear, including knockout gas spray, throwing stars, smoke bombs, and plastic explosives, all with limited ammo. Special equipment is required for certain levels, like a flashlight, gas mask, and X-ray goggles.
The game's graphics are heavily inspired by the 90s animated series, with many level situations and environments based on episodes from the show. The result is a game that feels true to the Batman: The Animated Series universe.
