The Munchables is set in a world called Star Ving, composed of many islands connected by sparkling rainbows. The Munchables are creatures that love eating and have a treasured possession called Legendary Orbs, which keep their lands rich and full of food. However, their lives change when a mysterious fleet of extraterrestrial spaceships surrounds the islands, taking over the Legendary Orbs and acquiring unbelievable power.
The aliens, led by Don Onion, are a dreadful army of strange fruits and vegetables. The Great Elder is dismayed but then has an idea - if enemies are tasty, they should be eatable! The player takes control of one of two Munchables, Chomper or Munchy, and must devour the hostile legions of fruit and vegetable enemies.
In The Munchables , the gameplay involves navigating through levels, eating enemies to grow and level up. The player can use a dash attack to split enemies into lower-level creatures that are edible. The game also features a co-operative mode for two players and a Mirror mode where stages are reversed with a time limit.
The controls in The Munchables depend on the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. The player uses the analog stick to move, jumps by tilting the stick up, eats enemies by moving towards them and pressing A, locks onto enemies by holding Z on the Nunchuk, unleashes a Turbo Eat power by holding down A, strikes enemies with a dash attack by pressing B, and plays Mirror mode by holding B.
