Super Xevious , released on the Famicom in 1986, tells the story of a group of inhabitants from the planet Xevious who have been defeated and are now attacking the Earth. Their home planet was destroyed and they seek to reclaim it by force. The players must take control of the Solvalou aircraft to stop this invasion.
Gameplay in Super Xevious involves 2D vertically-scrolling action, with players collecting power-ups such as bombs, lasers, and shields to aid them in their quest. Shields protect the aircraft from enemy fire, while other power-ups provide additional capabilities like a rear shot and increased lock-on range. Some stages have specific objectives, such as destroying a set number of SOL towers, which must be met to progress; failure to do so results in an endless loop of increasingly difficult enemies.
