How to Play
OPTIONS MENU
At the START/OPTIONS Menu, highlight OPTIONS and press the X button.
The Options Menu contains the following sub-menu selections: GAME, SOUND, CONTROLS, LOAD, SAVE and EXIT. Highlight the one you want and press the X button. Each option can be adjusted by pressing Left and Right on the Directional button. To go back to the previous menu (START/OPTIONS), press the β² button.
GAME

DIFFICULTY: Determines how difficult computer-controlled opponents will be.
β’
CLOCK SPEED: Speeds up the game clock, controlling both game time and shot clock.
β’
TIPS SCREENS: Turn On or Off tip screens that appear after the 1st and 3rd Quarters.
β’
AUTOSAVE: Choose to automatically save game data (records, created players, etc.). This option requires a Memory card to be inserted before and during play.
β’
EXIT: Returns you to the Options Menu. Highlight EXIT and press the X button.
SOUND
β’
MUSIC: Controls the volume of the game's background music.
β’
SFX: Adjusts the volume of the game's sound effects.
β’
ANNOUNCER: Turn the announcer's commentary On or Off.

EXIT: Returns you to the Options Menu. Highlight EXIT and press the X button.
CONTROLS
This option allows you to configure the controller. Select which controller you wish to configure (1-4) and press the X button.
You can configure the controller by pressing Left and Right on the Directional button to cycle between 3 different controller presets. When you have selected the preset you want to use, highlight EXIT and press the X button.
LOAD/SAVE
When a Memory card is inserted, you can LOAD or SAVE your game data here. Highlight the option you want and press the X button. The game will confirm your data load or save and inform you whether the action was successful or not.
EXIT
To exit back to the START/OPTIONS screen, highlight EXIT and press the X button.
CREATING A PLAYER
At the Main Menu, highlight CREATE PLAYER and press the X button. The game will ask if you're sure you want to enter this mode. Select YES or NO and press the X button.
The Create Player feature allows you to create your own player, choosing their number, skills, weaknesses, and even their head.
Player Name
First, enter your player's name, up to six characters long.

Highlight letters using the Directional button.

To choose a letter, highlight it and press any button.

To erase a letter, highlight BACK (bottom-center) and press a button.

To end your name entering, highlight END and press the X button.
PIN
Next, enter a four-number Personal Identification Number (PIN) for yourself. When you have entered your numbers, press the X button to continue. You may now continue creating your new player.
VIEW STATS
You can view your player's statistics here ONLY if you have saved player data.
HEAD
Choose a head for your character from different players, team mascots, and even a horse. Select a head by pressing Left and Right on the Directional button. To select your player's head, press the X button.
NUMBER
Your player's number can only be two digits long. Choose the number the same way you entered the player's name and PIN.
ATTRIBUTES
You can select what attributes your player will have, such as Dunking, Three-Pointers, or height. You have a point total of 80 to work with. You can earn points for every three wins.

Press Right on the Directional button to boost an attribute (you lose points).
β’
Press Left on the Directional button to decrease an attribute (you gain points).
β’
Remember that the stronger your player is in one attribute, the weaker they are in another.
PRIVILEGES
There are seven privileges you can add to your character to help them on the court. You can only select 2 out of the 7 privileges.

STEALTH TURBO: When you use Turbo, your shoes will not change color, making opponents wonder if you're using it.
β’
BIG HEAD: Adds a giant head to your character.
β’
DRONE BIG HEAD: Gives your Drone a big head.
β’
COURT SELECT: Allows you to choose your favorite court before each game.
β’
CHOOSE HOTSPOT: Pick a spot on the court to be your hotspot. Shots from this spot have a higher chance of going in.
β’
HIDE ATTRIBUTES: Hides your attributes from opponents, leaving them guessing your skill level.
β’
CHOOSE JERSEY: Select a jersey for your player to wear, regardless of their team. You can even wear a Team Midway one.
NICKNAME
Press Up and Down on the Directional button to select from a wide assortment of nicknames for your player. To hear the announcer call out the nickname, press Left or Right on the Directional button. When you find one you like, press the X button.
EDIT NAME
You can edit your player's name and PIN here. When you select it, the game will ask if you really want to change your player's name and PIN. Select YES or NO and press the X button. If you select YES, you will have to enter a new name and PIN for your player. The new data will be saved to your Memory card (if one is inserted).
Tips & Maps
REBOUNDING
Time your jumps at the net and press Shoot and Turbo together to get high in the air for rebounds. Follow your shot to the net for offensive rebounds and try pressing Shoot while in the air for a sweet move.
ON FIRE!
A player who sinks three hoops in a row becomes "On Fire" with Unlimited Turbo and a much greater chance of making any shot. To extinguish a player who's on fire, the opposing team needs to make just one basket.
Team Fire
When a team does three Alley Oops or Double Dunks in a row, both players achieve Team Fire with Unlimited Turbo until the other team makes an Alley Oop or Double Dunk.
HARD CONTACT
Press Turbo and Pass to knock an opponent down, potentially creating a turnover. Be careful, as 5 fouls give your opponent a 3-point free throw attempt and possession if they make the shot.
THE ALLEY OOP!
As you go hard toward your net, watch for your teammate flying toward the net, and when he jumps high and flashes, press Pass to dish the ball off for a slam dunk. To go up yourself, press Turbo and Shoot together.
HEAD FAKE
With your feet planted, quickly tap the Shoot Button to execute a head fake, which may cause your opponent to mis-time his block attempt.
CLEARING OUT
If you're held up and need to pass or shoot, quickly tap the Turbo Button to grasp the ball hard and throw elbows, making it more difficult for your opponent to steal the ball.
SPIN MOVE
As you dribble, quickly tap the Turbo Button twice to perform a spin move.
THE DOUBLE DUNK
Both teammates jump high and drive to the hoop; the ball carrier presses Pass to dish off to the flashing teammate behind him, who must press Turbo and Shoot to jump high toward the net.
BLOCKING SHOTS
Time a player's shot attempt, step in front of him, and press the Shoot Button; if he's high in the air, press Shoot and Turbo together to greet him above the rim.
TIP
A player's attributes indicate their best skills; a good shooter makes more 3-pointers, a power player gets more rebounds and is harder to clear out, and a dunker performs higher, more exciting dunks.
INTERMISSIONS
At Halftime, you can substitute one or both players, but not created players or change teams; use the Directional buttons to cycle through available players and X to return to the floor.
COACHING TIPS
After the 1st and 3rd quarters, Coaching Tips are displayed, offering helpful playing tips and special moves, and more tips are given between quarters if the game goes into Overtime.
Halftime Stats Screen
At Halftime, this screen appears with current game stats for all four players.
End Game Stats Screen
This screen appears at the end of the game, followed by the Scoring Breakdown Screen, which displays the breakdown of point totals for each quarter.
