Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball is a baseball game where players control their chosen team through Exhibition and Regular Season modes. In Exhibition mode, players play a standard 9 innings baseball game, while Regular Season mode allows for a full regular season with the World Championship Playoffs.
In Regular Season mode, players can see their team's progress by using the in-game calendar showing all the games. Each team is part of one of four divisions: National Division East, National Division West, American Division East, or American Division West. Players select a fictional team from these groups to play as.
Players control their pitcher by adjusting the speed and spin of the pitch, as well as the pitcher's position on the plate. They can also stop an opponent stealing a base by using a special ability. When batting, players must time their hit to successfully hit the ball, or have the option to not hit if it's a 'ball'. Players can also steal a base while batting.
After the ball is hit, the game goes into fielding mode, where the camera shifts to a lower angle to show the player controlling the closest fielder to catch or throw the ball to the selected base. The camera angles change depending on the location of the ball, and players can use different abilities to catch or throw the ball.
The game also features two-player mode with the use of two controllers, allowing for an exhibition match between friends. Additionally, players can save their progress in Regular Season mode using a password.
