This version of WWF War Zone differs from its console counterpart. Due to hardware limitations, the game has 2D graphics, as opposed to the 3D of the console versions. The gameplay modes include singles, tag team, cage match, and WWF Challenge (tournament mode). Unlike the console version, there is no create-a-wrestler mode. Gameplay mechanics have been simplified in this version, as all wrestlers share the same move set, with the exception of their finishing moves. The wrestlers Bret Hart, The Headbangers, or any of the secret characters are absent from this release as well.

Welcome to War Zone™
War Zone™ offers the mayhem of the Steel Cage Match, realistic grudge matches, tag team terror, and the gutsy Challenge competition. In Challenge, you climb from the bottom to become World Wrestling Federation Champion.
You will get to know 13 wrestlers, including classic tough guys like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and Ken Shamrock, and bright talents like Goldust. You don't truly know them until you have battled against them—or AS them.
Take time in Training Mode if you don't want to spend your playtime whimpering.

Challenge
There are four stages in the W™ Challenge, mirroring a real career. You will need to beat the best to be the best, including defending your standings, beating foes in Grudge Matches, and ascending to the World Championship. It's a daunting challenge with many pitfalls.
Starting Out
Before each W™ Challenge game, you will see the Standings screen, which shows your current rank and any associated Password. You begin at the bottom. Each win against computer-picked opponents will advance you up the ladder. You must master each of the four stages to be worthy of the next.
Grudge Matches
At different times, you may be challenged to a Grudge Match. If challenged, you must show your opponent their mistake. Beat your Grudge Match opponent to take their place in the standings and gain a reputation as a fearless brawler.
You get a total of three shots at winning your Grudge Match. Losing is NOT an option; if you do, it's GAME OVER!

Training
Even the best have to train relentlessly to maintain their edge in the ring; get in there and sweat until you can't stand anymore, then do it some more!
