It is 2015 and the terrorist organization NAC are quickly taking over the known world. From the ranks of the NAC, the player takes the role of a renegade fighter pilot from the Freedom unit to strike and destroy the NAC threat. Sharing similar mechanics to the Sega Master System game, the player flies through a number of stages shooting air, ground and naval enemies as well as collecting powerups. Each mission consists of two or three stages, ending with a boss.
The gameplay involves navigating through levels, avoiding obstacles while targeting enemies with projectiles. The player can collect various upgrades to enhance their abilities, such as increased firepower or speed boosts. The Aerial Assault game requires quick reflexes and strategic thinking to overcome the challenges posed by the NAC forces.
The Sega Game Gear console brought Aerial Assault to players in 1992, offering an action-packed shoot'em up experience on-the-go.
