Growl is a one-player game where you control one of four characters - Gen, Burn, Khan, and Jack - and must defeat a group of evil poachers by hand-to-hand combat. You can also find weapons such as grenades, rocket launchers, whips, swords, guns, and shotguns that you can use to fight the poachers.

The game's storyline revolves around stopping animal cruelty and helping animals aid in defeating the poachers. Along your journey, you'll encounter various cases of animal abuse, including men whipping a lion. Stopping these incidents will earn you allies among the animals, who will help you on your quest to take down the poachers.
