Super Thunder Blade , released on 14th August 1989, follows up on the original arcade game. Players take control of a helicopter, blasting away at enemies with its cannon and missiles. The four stages are very similar in pattern: the first part is from behind the helicopter, where players must dodge enemy fire and obstacles like buildings or caves. In between, players face off against smaller boss enemies. When the first part of a level is finished, the view switches to an overhead perspective for the confrontation with the end boss.
The gameplay involves navigating through the stages while avoiding enemy fire and obstacles, then facing off against bosses in a head-on confrontation.
