Daytona USA is a home port of the highly successful arcade racer. The console versions retain key elements that made the original popular: three detailed tracks, arcade driving physics requiring players to find the best route to beat the checkpoint timer and avoid crashing. The 40-car Easy race from the original version is also present.
The Daytona USA home versions feature a new mode, where players can play without the timer, and optionally in mirror mode, using special cars with abilities like driving on grass or hitting rails without losing speed. The tracks are available in three lengths: Normal, Grand Prix (2.5 times longer), and Endurance (10 times longer).
The game suffers from a loss of detail and frame rate due to hardware limitations on the Sega Saturn and Personal Computers. Additionally, multiplayer is absent, which was a notable feature in the arcade version that allowed for up to eight players.
