The fourth installment in the popular strategy series, set in the continent of Jugdral, southeast of Akaneia. Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu follows the story of Prince Sigurd, followed by his son Celis becoming the protagonist. The game's turn-based strategy gameplay remains the same as its predecessors, but with some key changes. The promotion system is now level-based, and RPG-style status effects have been added. A new concept, the weapons triangle, introduces weaknesses between different types of weapons.
The game features larger maps than previous titles, although fewer in number, at 12. New units such as the Troubadour, Dragon Master, and Falcon Knight are also introduced. Released late in the Super Famicom's lifecycle in Japan on 1996-05-14 , Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu was not published internationally.
