The mighty robot King has taken over Dr. Wily's base, invaded the Robot Museum, and stolen 100 CDs containing secret robot plans, hoping to create the ultimate unstoppable army of robots! And to make matters worse, he's sent 8 robot masters to prove his new-found power! Mega Man is the only one who can stop him...or so he thought! Bass, Dr. Wily's greatest creation and Mega Man's sworn rival, is actually fighting ALONGSIDE Mega Man for once! Of course, it's only to prove that he's the strongest robot ever made, and he'll do it by smashing King's army of mechanical maniacs! Now, Mega Man and Bass are heading out to get back all of the CD's that King stole. Run, jump, slide, dash, and blast your way through to destroy this new menace!

In this action-platformer, Mega Man and Bass investigate a criminal threat issued by King, a new antagonist who declares that superior robots should rule the Earth. The duo must thwart King's plan to steal valuable robot data from the museum, addressing his dangerous challenge to human supremacy.
Story
A Declaration of Crime
A surprise declaration has been received from the man who took over Wily's base. The message reveals that the illegal trespasser is King.
King states that any robot who proves himself superior to human beings should rule the Earth.
From the Criminal
King goes on to include a threat to steal the robot data from the museum.
Officials are taking the statements and the threat with the most extreme seriousness.

How to Play
Energy Gauges
The Life Energy Gauge shows your character's remaining energy. The Boss Energy Gauge displays the remaining energy of the Boss you are fighting. The Weapon Energy Gauge shows the remaining energy for the weapon you're using, though it is not displayed on screen.
Equipment Selection
Press START on the action screen to switch to the equipment selection screen. To switch between the weapons selection screen and the item selection screen, move the cursor to NEXT and press the A Button.

Item Selection
Special Weapons allow you to switch weapons by moving the cursor over one and pressing START. The NEXT cursor lets you switch between the weapons selection and item selection screens.
The status display provides the following information:
•
LIVES: Shows your remaining lives.
•
SCREWS: Shows the number of screws you have, which can be given to Lighttool to acquire a new item.
•
CDs: Shows the number of CDs collected, containing images of Mega Man characters and enemies viewable on the database screen.
•
ITEMS: Displays your USABLE ITEMS and EQUIPPED ITEMS.
•
EXIT PARTS: This symbol appears when you have exit parts, which can be used by pressing the A Button.
•
TRANSCEIVER: This is displayed when you have a transceiver, which can be used by pressing the A Button.
Roll's CD Collection
This stage reveals the CDs that King has stolen from Roll. The CDs store robot data that can be read on the database screen. To do this, move the cursor to your CD selection and press the A Button, then use the Control Pad to see more information about the selected CD. King has disappeared with 100 CDs in total.
Save & Continue
You can enter the save data screen any time you clear a stage or when the game is over. Here you can save your game data up to your present level. Saving over another file erases the previous game data.
If you quit the game midway, your midway data is saved and can be resumed by selecting MIDWAY DATA. Once you start a midway save game or load other data, the midway data is erased. To continue a saved game, select CONTINUE from the title screen.
The CDs you gather are automatically saved. If you want to erase the CDs, go to the save screen, press and hold the SELECT + L + R Buttons, and then press START. Save often, and always save when you clear a stage.
Tips & Maps
Slide
Press and hold down the A Button to slide into tight passageways and slip under jumping enemies.
Buster Shot
Press the B Button to fire a Buster Shot.
Charge Shot
Hold down the B Button to charge up the Buster Shot, then release to fire off a power-packed shot.
Bass Jump
For a spectacular double air press the A Button to jump, then press it again at the peak of the first jump.
Bass Buster
Hold down the B Button to fire off rapid continuous shots. Use the Control Pad to aim the Bass Buster Up, Down, Left and Right while rapid firing.
Dash
Press the Control Pad twice in the same direction and Bass will dash that way.
Items & Weapons
Items
Items appear in special places or are dropped by defeated Bosses. Run over items to pick them up.
Life Energy Pellets
Restore your health according to their size, large or small.
Weapon Energy Pellets
Increase your weapon's energy according to their size, large or small.
Screws
Dr. Light will create different power-up parts for you based on the number of screws you collect. Small screws are worth 5, big screws are worth 15, and special screws are worth 100.
1UP
Adds an extra life to your total count, up to 9.
CD
Collect these to see exciting Mega Man images on the data base screen.
Light Research Center
Go to the Light Research Center Shop from the stage select screen, choose an item, and bring your screws to Lightott to create power-up parts. Once created, a new part cannot be canceled or switched.
Power-up Parts
These are special items created by Lightott using collected screws, providing various abilities and enhancements for the player.
Energy Balancer
When you pick up a weapon energy pellet, the energy balancer automatically fills up your item that has the lowest energy.
Exit Parts
Select this while in a stage to exit the stage. You can only exit from stages where you have beat the Boss.
Shock Guard
This protects you one time from thorns and spikes that would normally destroy you.
Transciver
Use the transciver to communicate with Roll from the equipment selection screen. She will inform you about enemy weak points and other stage hints.
Item Presenter
Gan Balls containing life energy pellets will appear in different parts of the stage once you have the item presenter. When you leave a stage, this item will break and disappear.
Rush Search
Mega Man only. When you use this item, Rush appears and dives into the ground to dig up hidden items.
Gospel Boost
Bass only. When you use this item, Gospel appears, turns into a rocket booster, and attaches itself to Bass, allowing him to temporarily fly.
Enemies & Characters
Mega Man
An outstanding example of the robot race developed as a household robot that was modified into a battle robot to stop Dr. Wily's plan of world conquest.
Bass
A war robot created by Dr. Wily whose goal is to defeat Mega Man, who temporarily allied with Mega Man to defeat King.
Rush
A support robot made by Dr. Light for Mega Man, possessing an excellent sense of smell to sniff out hidden items.
Dr. Thomas Light
Number one in Robot Engineering and Mega Man's creator, he focuses on creating helpful robots and helping those in trouble.
Roll
An assisting engineer robot created by Dr. Light who provides practical advice and helpful hints for Mega Man and Bass.
Lightott
An assistant robot that helps Dr. Light with his research and in developing power-up parts.
Gospel
A support robot that moves with Bass and can transform or form one unit with him.
Beat
A support robot bird made by Dr. Kossack for Mega Man, modified to perform crash attacks and transport items.
Blues
Dr. Light's first attempt at making a humanoid robot who moves of his own free will and attempted to foil King's plot.
Eddy
An item transport robot created by Dr. Light that has the ability to fly and transport items rapidly.
King
A robot who stole creation data to generate an army of evil robots for world supremacy and self-proclaimed 'world's strongest robot.'
Wiley
Dr. Light's rival who seeks world domination through evil robots and currently lives in Dr. Light's research center after an attack.
Dynamo Man
A robot modified by King to create an internal power generator, which gained a massive energy force field and resentment toward everyone.
Cold Man
A guardian robot modified by King using dinosaur DNA that can instantly freeze targets with its absolute zero body temperature.
Ground Man
The strongest robot of the King numbered series, developed to excavate ruins, who rarely speaks and has no feelings.
Pirate Man
A robot created to attack cargo vessels that uses various methods to steal ships and hides at the bottom of the sea.
Burner Man
A robot created to destroy the environment, powered by a super high temperature gas and believing he must burn forests daily to survive.
Magic Man
A former circus performer who enlisted in King's army for looks, known for showing off magic card tricks and researching magic.
Tengu Man
An experimental robot developed to artificially generate typhoons, he was converted by Dr. Wily into a battle robot and enlisted in King's army to seek revenge on Mega Man. He has undergone modifications to make him effective at both close-in and distance fighting.
Astro Man
This robot was revived using data King stole from the museum and possesses the ability to show planetarium images from a different dimension. Although reprogrammed to attack, his programming sometimes fails.
