The gameplay has been improved with new features such as the ability to change shot trajectories in mid-air and an advanced AI that reacts to player performance. Players can also track their players' performance, morale and attitude during franchise mode to keep them happy and content with their place on the team.

New features include online capabilities for competing in leagues or facing against another team head-to-head, as well as uploading created players and custom highlight reels to share online.

Clark Kellogg, Cheryl Miller and Kevin Harlan provide voice talents to the game, adding to the overall experience.
