Championship Hockey is an Ice Hockey game where players can play International level matches between the 22 available nations in either one match or elimination playoffs. The game is played from a birds eye view from over the top one side of the hockey rink's goals with a camera that scrolls up and down the length of the hockey rink.

The gameplay involves cycling through the available players, making them move faster, and challenging opponents for the puck. When in control of the puck, players have the option to shoot for a goal or pass to another player. Penalties can result in a player being sent off for 2 game minutes if the penalties option is turned on.

The game features three different modes: Regular Season, New Playoff, and Best Of 7. In Regular Season, players can choose two countries for one match. In New Playoff, 16 teams compete in an elimination contest, with the last team standing winning after four games. Best Of 7 is similar to New Playoff but with a winner determined by the first team to achieve four victories.
