Columns is a puzzle game that challenges players to arrange groups of colored blocks in sequences of three or more, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. The goal is to clear as many lines as possible, with higher scoring sequences awarded for longer combinations.

One key strategy in Columns is setting up "combos," where a single line triggers other blocks to drop, creating new lines and opportunities for further scores. In addition to the standard game mode, there's also a "flash" mode that focuses on removing a specific block from the base of the pile, with increasing difficulty levels based on the number of pre-formed rows already in place.
