Power and Startup
Turn OFF the power switch on your Nintendo® Game Boy® Advance. Never insert or remove a Game Pak when the power is on.
Insert the Disney•Pixar Cars Mater-National Game Pak into the slot on the Game Boy® Advance. To lock the Game Pak in place, press firmly.
Turn ON the POWER switch. The credit screens will appear (if you don't see them, begin again at step 1).
After the intro plays, you will automatically be brought to the Main Menu.
Main Menu
Use the +Control Pad/A Button to choose from the following:
•
New Game: Begin a brand new game of Disney•Pixar Cars Mater-National.
•
Expert Mode: Put your racing skills to the test against more challenging opponents.
•
Continue: Continues an existing game.
•
Options: View and modify game options.
Starting a new game will erase all previous progress which can only be retrieved by entering your five Cars character passwords into the Continue Screen.
Expert Mode
Use the +Control Pad/A Button to select a more challenging opponent to race against on any track in the game. You will receive the Expert Mode password only after beating the normal game.
Continue
After winning a race, you will receive a new password consisting of five Cars characters. Use the +Control Pad/A Button to enter this password at any time and return to your previous game.
Options
Use the +Control Pad/A Button to set Background Music volume, adjust Sound FX, or check out the pit crew who helped create this game.
Race Select
Use the +Control Pad/A Button to select a race. When you start a new game you will only have one race to choose from. Win races to unlock more.
Car Select
Use the +Control Pad/A Button to choose from a variety of playable characters - each with slightly different Acceleration, Suspension, and Steering values which affect individual racing performance. International competitors become playable characters only after you've beaten them.
Turn Indicators
Flashing arrows show the degree and severity of upcoming turns in the track - so keep your eyes peeled and you just might cross the finish line in one piece!

Easy Turn: Piece of cake.
•
Moderate Turn: Pay attention.
•
Difficult Turn: Watch out!
Pause Menu
Press START at any time during gameplay to pause the game and access the Pause Menu.
•
Resume: Resume gameplay and get back in the race.
•
Restart: Restart your current event.
•
Quit: Exit the current event and return to the Main Menu.
Results
View your final position as well as the time it took you and your opponents to cross the finish line.
Win a race to receive a new five Cars character password before returning to the Continue Screen.
