Aquanaut's Holiday is an underwater adventure game where players take control of a submersible to explore the ocean depths at their own pace.
As they dive into the unknown, players can discover sunken ships, statues, and other treasures, or interact with marine life using sonar technology. The game encourages exploration and discovery over fast-paced action sequences or point accumulation.
The gameplay revolves around navigating the underwater world, exploring shipwrecks, and interacting with sea creatures. Players can also leave underwater stations to mark points of interest for future study or build a customizable coral reef that will attract marine life.

Game Guide
Extracted from the original game manual
This is a relaxing exploration game where players, as a renowned marine explorer, pilot an advanced submarine to survey an unknown deep-ocean section and build a unique habitat. The game emphasizes player freedom and tranquility, allowing them to explore a mysterious underwater world at their own pace without deadlines or pressure.
Story
SINK INTO THE DEEP BLUE
You are the world's foremost marine explorer, recognized globally. As a senior researcher at an elite oceanographic institute, you are at the pinnacle of your profession. Your discoveries have shaped how scientists and society view the ocean and its ecology, making the seas and their life safer and healthier.
However, your hectic pace has caught up with you. The stressful schedule and pressures of worldwide renown have become too much, pushing your mind and body beyond their limits. You are overworked and on the verge of collapse. It's time to let go.
Unwind in a Mysterious World
A perfect opportunity arises when the institute's director offers you a unique mission. He asks you to "survey an unknown section of deep ocean, and build a unique habitat." You will work at your own pace, exploring, experiencing, and relaxing.
There are no "need to's" or "must have's," no interference, and no deadlines. It's just you and the deep blue.
Rediscover Yourself
Take command of the HOLIDAY, an advanced-technology submarine. You have sole access to the institute's sea-floor Base. As you begin exploring the mysterious 3D liquid world, tranquility floods your being.
Whatever happens next is entirely up to you!
