Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a horror game that reimagines the classic Silent Hill story. You play as Harry Mason, searching for his missing daughter Cheryl in the haunted town of Silent Hill. The game features a unique depiction of Silent Hill's alter-dimension as a world of ice.
The gameplay involves navigating through the town while avoiding monsters. Unlike previous versions, there are no weapons available - you must run for your life when they attack. Between scenes, the game will cut to a psychiatrist's office, where you'll be asked personal questions about yourself and your past experiences.
The game's story changes based on your responses, altering characters and lines of dialog to make them more personally uncomfortable. As you search for Cheryl, you'll encounter objects and recordings that reveal some of Silent Hill's history. You can use the Wii Remote to control a flashlight aimed in real-time, take phone calls and messages from both the real and supernatural worlds, and use a camera function to uncover hidden ghosts.

Game Guide
Extracted from the original game manual
This is a psychological horror game where players control Harry Mason, a father searching for his missing daughter Cheryl in the snow-covered, increasingly nightmarish town of Silent Hill. The gameplay involves exploration, puzzle-solving, and evading monstrous creatures that appear during "Nightmare" sequences.
Story
PROLOGUE
The resort town of Silent Hill is a well-known local vacation spot. In the last decade, the residential population has increased as many young families make Silent Hill their permanent home. The friendly lake community struggles to find its identity amidst scenic woodlands, a growing downtown retail mecca, and the quaint thrills of popular Lakeside Amusement Park.
This season, Silent Hill slips into a quiet hibernation. Normally abuzz with late vacationers who waited out the hot summer, the town's tourist attractions are instead vacant as a freak blizzard whips its way through the area. Schools close and families huddle indoors, afraid to walk the frozen streets. The only sounds are echoes of the storm's forsaken howl.
Harry Mason glances at the rearview mirror to see his daughter Cheryl in the backseat. She is his only comfort on a long, lonely drive through Silent Hill.
Harry's car hits a patch of ice and skids across the road. He tries to correct, but there's no purchase to be had on the ice, and the vehicle careens into a ditch.
Eventually, Harry regains consciousness to find that Cheryl is missing. He grabs a flashlight from the glove compartment and searches the car, but his daughter is nowhere to be seen. Where could she have gone? Harry walks toward a building he sees nearby.

Text and voicemail messages can be accessed from the Messages menu. The phone can even take pictures! Accessing the Camera will allow you to then snap a shot by pressing β.

How to use the Map

Up to 3 Profiles can be saved at a time. To resume a saved game, simply select that Profile from the main menu.
β’
When saving data, your progress is recorded to the nearest Checkpoint. In some instances, your game may load from a point slightly earlier than the exact location you saved.
β’

PROLOGUE
The town of Silent Hill is a very popular vacation spot. However, with a large number of young families settling there, the residential population has exploded over the past ten years. Currently, this warm community is striving to find its identity in the midst of a city that has as its backdrop a picturesque forest, growing commercial districts, and an amusement park with ephemeral thrills.
This year, Silent Hills has fallen into a deep torpor. Usually living at the frantic pace of late vacationers who preferred to wait for the end of summer and the heat waves, the city is now deserted, in the grip of a blizzard of rare violence. Schools are closed and residents are holed up at home, terrified to walk the desolate streets from which the lugubrious howls of the unleashed storm rise.
Harry Mason glances in the rearview mirror to look at his daughter Cheryl, sitting in the back. The journey through Silent Hill is endless and only Cheryl's presence comforts him.
Harry suddenly loses control of his car, which skids on a patch of black ice. He tries to straighten it, but the vehicle ends up in the ditch.
After regaining consciousness, Harry discovers that Cheryl has disappeared. Plunged into darkness, he grabs a flashlight from the glove compartment. Where could Cheryl have gone? Harry heads towards a building he spots nearby.
Objective
β’
Find Cheryl, Harry's daughter.

Enemies & Characters
Harry Mason

Cheryl Mason
A bright, happy child, Cheryl is active and loves to play outside, exploring the world around her with an active imagination.
Dr. K
Dr. K's pleasant and inviting demeanor creates a safe environment that puts his patients at ease, allowing them to open up emotionally. Yet, a cynical glimmer behind his eyes suggests there's more on his mind than he's willing to share.
Cybil Bennett
A local cop, Cybil knows everything about Silent Hill, both the town and its people. Her father raised her as a dutiful police officer, and she takes that job seriously, seriously enough to be out on patrol during a major blizzard.
Tips & Maps
Riddles
Harry will face a wide variety of riddles during his journey. If you are stuck, try to look for objects you can interact with in "Riddle" view, search nearby cabinets and drawers, or use Harry's phone to look for phone numbers or places to photograph.
Light and Sound
During the Nightmare, Harry's phone emits a sound when creatures are nearby, increasing in intensity as danger approaches. Creatures cannot perceive this sound, but they can hear Harry if he runs or makes noise, and they can see the light from his lamp, so it is advisable to turn it off to go unnoticed.
Escape from the Nightmare
The Nightmare is a dangerous place where Harry is at permanent risk from indestructible creatures that will relentlessly chase him. Use your common sense, the accessible map on Harry's phone, and the crackling sound to navigate, and slow down monsters by knocking over shelves or using flares to keep them at bay temporarily.
You are safe in Dr. K's office
During the sessions, try to relax and answer the doctor honestly, as the more honest you are, the more Dr. K will be able to help you. There are no good or bad answers, and you will not be penalized for saying what you have on your heart, so take your time.
