Casper puts you in the role of the friendly ghost trying to make a friend and a second chance at life instead of scaring everyone away. Based on the Casper film, the game follows Casper's journey as he tries to outsmart his uncles - Stretch, Stinkie, and Fatso - who love to scare "Fleshies". The plot centers around Carrigan Crittenden, a spoiled and grasping inheritor of Whipstaff Manor, who is after the treasure she thinks is hidden in the walls. With the help of Dr. James Harvey, a therapist to the dead, Casper must navigate through 3D puzzles and challenges.
The gameplay involves mostly puzzle solving, with Casper able to take various forms and manipulate objects. As you progress through the game, you'll need to use your wits and Casper's abilities to overcome obstacles and defeat enemies.

Game Guide
Extracted from the original game manual
This adventure game tasks you with playing as Casper, a teenage ghost who seeks friendship rather than scaring away the new human occupants of Whipstaff Manor. While your spectral relatives work to drive out the heiress Carrigan Crittenden and her family, you must navigate their resistance to find companionship with Dr. Harvey and his daughter, Kat.
Story
Welcome to Whipstaff Manor
Whipstaff Manor is haunted by spectres who have kept humans ("Fleshies") away for more than a century. The ghostly inhabitants prefer the stately mansion to remain dusty, cobwebbed, and deserted.
A New Owner
Whipstaff has changed hands, now belonging to the ill-tempered heiress Carrigan Crittenden. A deed states that "Buccaneers and buried gold, Whipstaff doth a treasure hold." Carrigan is determined to secure this treasure, as she always gets what she wants.
The Ghosts' Resistance
Carrigan is not the only spoiled brat at the manor; the ghosts are determined to keep Whipstaff for themselves. Unlike the new human owner, the ghosts have successfully had their way for over a hundred years.
The Psychiatrist and His Daughter
Driven out of the mansion by spectral antics, the disgruntled Carrigan seeks an expert: psychiatrist Dr. James Harvey. Known as possibly the only "therapist to the dead" in the world, he moves into the mansion with his twelve-year-old daughter, Kat. They are prepared to deal with the ghosts on their own obnoxious terms.
You Play Casper
You play as Casper, the youngest of the Whipstaff ghosts. Your uncles-Stretch, Stinkie, and Fatso-enjoy scaring away any humans who enter the mansion.
Casper's Motivation
Unlike your uncles, you find the afterlife boring and lonely. You do not enjoy frightening people and simply want a friend.

How to Play
Game Overview
Casper is an adventure game where you explore the halls and rooms of Whipstaff Manor as Casper the Friendly Ghost. You can move, pick up objects, solve puzzles, reassemble torn paintings, and morph into various shapes.
Unlike many other games, Casper cannot die and there is no time limit. However, if you lose all your Morph Points, you will be sent back to the beginning of the game at the mansion's front hall.
Objectives and Story
Your first goal is to search the manor for tokens of friendship to give to the Harveys. You must choose the right gifts and good deeds to gain their trust, as your uncles and Carrigan are standing in your way. You will likely need Kat's help for the next stage of the game.
Morphing Mechanics
To select and use a morph, press Y to enter your inventory. Use the directional buttons to move the magnifying glass to the desired morph and press C to use it. You may also cycle through inventory items using the X and Z buttons.
Each morph costs a certain amount of Morph Points to maintain. You can build these points up by eating food items. When Casper bumps into food, it is automatically eaten and the points are added to your total.
•
Glass of milk: +20 Morph Points
•
Carrot: +25 Morph Points
•
Tuna sandwich: +5 Morph Points
•
Broccoli: +50 Morph Points
•
Banana: +10 Morph Points
•
Apple: +10 Morph Points
Interacting with the Environment
•
Doors: Locked doors can be opened with iron keys.
•
Chests: Fastened chests can be unlocked with brass keys.
•
Furniture: Stand Casper in front of items like barrels and chairs, then press B to move them. Note that some furniture cannot be moved or requires greater strength.
•
Fireplaces: You must put out the fire before entering. Chimneys may lead to secret areas.
•
Sinks: Select the bucket from your inventory and press C to fill it with water.
•
Switches: There are light switches, weight switches, and levers. Multiple switches may require specific on/off patterns to trigger secret passages or hidden compartments.
Tip: Adjusting Altitude
If you have trouble reaching objects to activate them, use the altitude buttons on the front of your controller to adjust your angle.
Walkthrough Snippet: Secret Rooms and Keys
Press B to pull on the spear and release the door above you. Go up to the secret room to pick up another key and a sandwich.
Return to the switch that opened the wall and head right to the door you previously couldn't open. You should have the iron key now; press B to pass through. Inside, there is a chest. Position Casper in front of it and press B to open it.
Jump back quickly, as Fatso may be lurking inside. If you dodge his reach fast enough, he will leave, allowing you to pick up the puzzle piece.
Walkthrough Snippet: The Kitchen and Main Hall
Return to the fireplace and go through the far left door to enter the Kitchen, which is Fatso's lair. Do not stay long, as you cannot defeat him at this stage of the game.
Return to the Main Hall and head through the archway to the left of the empty picture frame. Continue through the next door to gather two more keys.
On the left wall, find an in/out button. Adjust your altitude and press B to activate it. Do the same for a second button on the right wall.
Return to the Main Hall and go through the archway to the right of the picture frame. Open the chest there using your brass key by pressing B. Be ready to jump back, as Fatso may appear again.
You will find an iron weight, a lever, and potentially another chest. Press B to pull the lever, opening a door to the right. Go through, fish out a brass key, and open the chest. Pick up the puzzle piece and any remaining keys or sandwiches before returning to the Main Hall.
Final Steps
The final place to check is left from the Main Hall, near the fireplace. Go through the fireplace to find the fourth and final puzzle piece.
