While blocking an opponent's attack, you can perform quick counterattack moves known as Guard Reversals, which knock your opponent out of their attack movement and immediately put you on the offensive. Each character has a different Special move performed upon successfully executing a Guard Reversal, though Anakaris does not have one.

Donovan (Flame Sword), Hien-Ko (Phantom Reverb), Demitri (Spinning Uppercut), J. Talbain (Diagonal Luna Hammer), Victor Von Stomp, Lord Raptor (Helicopter), Morrigan (Shadow Blade), Felicia (Litterbox Kick), Bishamon (Upper Slash), Rikuo (Sonic), Sasquatch (Vortex Kick), and Huitzil (Force Field) each have unique Guard Reversal moves.
