NBA 2K6 is a basketball game that features updated rosters and an improved control scheme, allowing players to pass, shoot, and dunk using the analog stick. The turbo button has been removed, but players can now adjust their player's aggressiveness in the game.
The game includes many notable NBA players such as Shaquille O'Neal, Steve Nash, and Amare Stoudemire, among others. Players can also unlock and buy items for their apartment, known as "The Crib", to upgrade it as they progress through the game. The game modes include exhibition, franchise mode, where players can control everything from hiring new players to scouting out talent.
The Xbox Xbox console features V.I.P., allowing players to view and download their profiles to compare and compete against each other. Commentary is provided by Kevin Harlan and Kenny Smith.
