Kinect Star Wars is a game based on the Star Wars license and entirely controlled through Microsoft's Kinect peripheral that tracks movement and voice commands. All included game modes are representations of Star Wars activities performed within various locations throughout the Star Wars universe. Players use Kinect and physical movements to control the on-screen actions of their character. Players can choose to play alone, or with a partner who can enter at nearly any time to participate cooperative or competitively. The game contains five game modes: Jedi Destiny, Galactic Dance-Off, Duels of Fate, Podracing, and Rancor Mode. In the game, players must use their skills and reflexes to complete challenges and overcome obstacles in a variety of Star Wars settings. Jedi Destiny: Dark Side Rising Mode - In this mode, players take on the role of a Padawan Jedi who is thrust into a story that spans locations and characters from the prequel movies. Players have access to lightsaber attacks, duels, force powers, physical moves, and combat modifiers. Galactic Dance Off Mode - In this mode, players take part in a Galactic Dance-Off where they must match animated dance moves of competing characters. The game is set within four different locations: Jabba's Palace, Bespin, Coruscant, and the Death Star.
Duels of Fate Mode - This mode pits players in one-on-one lightsaber combat with progressively difficult enemies. Players must also navigate three land-vehicle levels, four space combat levels, and six lightsaber duel levels.
Podracing Mode - In this mode, players take on the role of a podrace pilot who aims to become champion of the most dangerous sport within the galaxy. Players collect power-ups, smash the competition, and attempt to arrive at the finish line in first place.
Rancor Mode - As an escaped Rancor from various locations, players wreak havoc in different planets. Players take on five different Rancor types, each with distinct abilities, and must gain points by smashing obstacles and fulfilling challenges.
