MX vs. ATV: Untamed , released on 2008 , is an off-road racing game that has some of the classic features from its predecessor, MX vs. ATV Unleashed, with new ones as well. Players can choose from a variety of vehicles including bikes with 250 cc and 550 cc engines, four ATV models, monster trucks, off-road dune buggies, and trophy trucks.
The gameplay involves competing in six different racing series, such as Supercross, Nationals, Opencross, Supermoto, Freestyle, and Rally, or participating in the X-Cross tournament. Players can also earn sponsorships by performing well, which will give them better bikes. The game features a Crash Camera mode, where accidents are slowed down in slow-mo.
The game includes various mini-games like ATV hockey, Monster Truck Smash, and Tag, as well as an online mode where players compete against others. The gameplay is similar to the console versions, with certain buttons used for gas and brakes on the Xbox 360 controller, while the Wii remote can also be used.
The DS and PSP versions have some differences from the major console versions. The DS has fewer vehicles and only a championship mode, but it includes ten exclusive tracks and three stadiums. The PSP version is almost identical, with different series such as Race, One on One, Time Attack, Stunt Challenge, Stunt Race, Hang-Time, Combo Challenge, Flag Challenge.
The game also features the X-Cross tournament on the PSP, but it's named the MX vs. ATV World Tour instead of X-Cross. Players can play games against friends using Wi-Fi on all versions.
