Picking up six years after Resident Evil 2 , the fourth game in the series follows a former cop (now US agent), Leon S. Kennedy, to Europe on a top-secret mission to investigate the disappearance of the president's daughter Ashley. As Leon encounters unimaginable horrors, he must find out who or what is behind everything. Old friends...and enemies...lurk around every corner as Leon attempts to find out who is truly behind the kidnapping of the president's daughter. Resident Evil 4 introduces a new movement camera angle and aiming feature, allowing for more fluid gunplay. The game features a revamped AI system and open environments where enemies can work together to corner Leon. This change also means that enemies are now human-like characters who can climb ladders, open doors, and use weapons.
The item system has been overhauled to allow for more flexibility. Items now take up space in a briefcase according to their size, allowing for a wider variety of items and upgrades. Leon can collect treasure from enemies or the environment and purchase new equipment, including bigger briefcases and powerful guns.
A bonus mode called Mercenaries is included, which allows players to experience survival scenarios with characters like Hunk and Albert Wesker. Later released platforms also come with an additional story mode called Separate Ways , where players can control Ada Wong in a parallel storyline that explores her motivations and actions.
The game was released on the Xbox 360 console on October 2, 2012, for fans of action-packed adventure games. With its new gameplay mechanics and expanded features, Resident Evil 4 offers an engaging experience for players looking to revisit the series or try it out for the first time.
