Need for Speed: V-Rally 2 returns to dirt racing once again, building upon the success of its predecessor. The game features a range of new modes, including an arcade mode, championship mode, trophy mode, and time trial mode. Players can compete against others in multiplayer, with up to four players able to participate.
The game boasts 16 different cars across three categories: World Rally Cars, 2L kit-cars, and 1.6L kit-cars. These vehicles are accompanied by bonus cars that can be unlocked through completion of certain modes, such as winning championships.
Gameplay is varied, with the arcade mode seeing players race against opponents on a set track, while the championship mode is designed around the FIA World Rally Championship. In this mode, drivers compete for points, with damaged cars able to be repaired at designated service parks. The trophy mode requires players to achieve the best overall result across multiple stages.
The track editor allows players to create and customise tracks using a single line or ribbon representation. This feature is supported by 84 default tracks that utilise the same engine, with scenery added procedurally depending on the curves and inclines of each track piece.
