Kingdom Crusade, released in 1992, offers a unique gaming experience based on the popular Prince Valiant cartoon series. Players take on the role of Prince Valiant, leading Arthur's armies against the tyrannical Cynan. The ultimate goal is to capture all of Cynan's castles or defeat his entire army.
The game features a vast over-map of the world, divided into tiles with different terrain and units or castles present in each one. Players can control characters directly in top-down view mode, similar to The Legend of Zelda, where they can attack, jump, and collect items. Each character has unique attacks, and items serve as power-ups that enhance gameplay.
The game requires strategy and skill, as players must dodge the AI opponent's attacks and try to land a blow. Conquering a castle requires defeating all enemies in adjacent tiles. The player can also return to castles to heal completely. Various options are available, including adjusting the world size, difficulty level, and handicap, allowing for replayability and customization.
