The The Walking Dead: Season Two continues the story of the comic books, following people in their attempts to survive after becoming a zombie. The game is less about fighting zombies than showing how survivors react to their situation and interact with each other. Besides a small intro portion, the story takes place over a year after the events of the first game. Clementine travels together with Omid and Christa initially but soon has to survive on her own and find new people to trust. The player takes the role of Clementine, who is not as strong as Lee in the previous game.
One of the main pillars of the game is making choices: in each episode, there are many decisions to make that influence how the remainder of the game plays out; the consequences may range from small to big. Those decisions, including Clementine's answers in conversations, have to be made within a time limit.
Sometimes Clementine has the opportunity to explore an area and interact with items or people to reach her next goal or just to learn more about the situation. The game uses a mix between direct movement of the character and using a cursor to choose an item to interact with: after hovering over an object, a list of possible actions pops up.
The frequent action sequences play out in quick-time events (the player has to press respectively hammer the buttons which are displayed on the screen or click on the correct spot on the screen under time pressure); in other cases there are mini games of the same complexity to solve.
Episode 1: All That Remains , Episode 2: A House Divided , Episode 3: In Harm's Way , Episode 4: Amid the Ruins , and Episode 5: No Going Back are the five episodes available for the PS Vita and other platforms.
The game was released on November 4, 2014 for the Playstation Vita and later for other platforms. The story is set over a year after the events of the first game and follows Clementine as she tries to survive in a world full of zombies.
