Despite being called The Walking Dead: Season Two , this release is actually only the first episode ( All That Remains ) of a five-part series. The game continues the story of The Walking Dead and is based on the comic books (not the TV series) of the same name. The Walking Dead: Season Two follows people in their attempts to survive after becoming infected with a zombie-like condition, known as "The Walker". The story is set over a year after the events of the first game and follows Clementine, a young girl who must navigate her way through a world filled with walkers. She is accompanied by others at first, but soon finds herself alone and must make difficult decisions to survive.
The gameplay mechanics are largely unchanged compared to the predecessor, with the player taking on the role of Clementine as she navigates through the game's story. The game places a strong emphasis on making choices, which can have significant consequences on the remainder of the game.
Choices must be made within a time limit, and the game reacts to some decisions made in the first game when a savegame is imported. Clementine also has the opportunity to explore small areas, interact with items or people, and engage in quick-time events and mini-games to progress through the story.
The other four episodes of The Walking Dead: Season Two were released separately as DLC or bundled as a Season Pass for this release:
The Walking Dead: Season Two - Episode 2: A House Divided
The Walking Dead: Season Two - Episode 3: In Harm's Way
The Walking Dead: Season Two - Episode 4: Amid the Ruins
The Walking Dead: Season Two - Episode 5: No Going Back
