Saving and Loading
Your progress is automatically saved after each race. Once your profile is created, the game loads automatically each time you start your Game Boy Advance and the game cartridge is inserted.
Game Modes
From Quick Race to the new in-depth Career mode, there are a lot of ways to dominate the streets.
Quick Race
Take the wheel and participate in races that have no effect on your progress in Career mode. You can choose a random race or customize your experience by choosing one of the four race types. Then, choose any car and any member of your crew unlocked in Career mode. All tracks you have unlocked in Career mode are accessible for Quick Race races.
Race Types
•
Elimination: The car finishing the race in last place is eliminated when the second-to-last driver crosses the finish line, so take the lead!
•
Manhunt: The goal of Manhunt races is not to finish first. You must be creative. Your health indicator fills up when you hit another racer and empties when you are hit or when you collide with a barrier. Your health indicator also fills up naturally over time. The closer you are to the front of the pack, the faster it fills up. •
Sprint: A race on 18 unique routes through the city determines the winner.
•
Circuit: A traditional multi-lap race in which the first car to cross the finish line wins.
Career Mode
After surviving a serious accident, you are back to avenge the death of your brother and take control of the city streets, one zone at a time. Thanks to your clan, you don't have to do it alone.
You start at the wheel of a borrowed car, but with a little practice and the help of your clan, you will quickly approach the ultimate goal-dominating all the city's zones. After each race, you can proceed to the next race, change the options, or display the Summary screen.
Summary Screen
The Summary screen shows your active user profile and the percentage of domination of the six city zones.
Your car's attributes include Acceleration, Max Speed, and Handling.
Crew Members
Danger lies in wait. You need your crew members to protect you. Your crew members act like ghosts in the race-they are not officially participating but they help you along the way. They appear on the minimap in the form of a specific icon. Go to the My Team screen from the Hideout to learn more about your crew members and their history.
During a race, an icon blinks in the top right corner of the screen when it is the right time to use a crew member's special abilities. The crew member is only accessible when the color indicator under the icon is green. If the indicator is orange or red, your crew member is already executing your previous order. Be careful when you activate a crew member as they often need to pass you and if you block their way, an accident can occur.
Your first crew members have three functions to use during the race. As you progress in Career mode, you can add new crew members to your team who are more skilled and have more tricks to help you. Before selecting a race, you can select the crew member who will help you. Try different types of crew members to find the one that helps you best.
Crew Member Types
•
Attacker: When you press the L button + the R button to activate your Attackers, they take out other racers, hit anything that moves, and hinder other racers long enough for you to get ahead.
•
Sucker: When you press the L button + the R button to activate your Suckers, their car places itself in front of you. Stay behind them long enough to fill your nitro.
How to Play
The first time you start the game, you create a user profile using the virtual keyboard. Your user profile is used to track your achievements and statistics. Then, it's time to explore the streets.
