Memory Card
It is highly recommended to use a NINTENDO GAMECUBE Memory Card to save accumulated profiles and game progress. Mortal Kombat™: Deadly Alliance™ includes a Player Profile function and Krypt, which you can use by inserting a Memory Card into your NINTENDO GAMECUBE console. By using a Memory Card, the Automatic Save function records your Player Profile data for later use in the Krypt option. Automatic Save records data in ARCADE, VERSUS, and CONQUEST game modes.
Just like the game's features, your settings options are automatically saved. Once saved, the options will be loaded the next time you connect the NINTENDO GAMECUBE console, provided you have inserted a Memory Card containing previously saved Mortal Kombat™ data. Important
Changes to default settings in the "Options" menus are automatically saved if you use a Memory Card with a previously created Player Profile. When memory cards are inserted into Slots A and B, the settings from Slot A of the Memory Card will be used, even if they are defined as default settings.
Note
Please refer to the NINTENDO GAMECUBE instruction manual for information on formatting and deleting files from a Memory Card. Main Menu
In the Main Menu, select the desired option, then press the A BUTTON. When you choose an option, a brief description of its content will appear on the right side of the screen.
Arcade
Select a fighter and travel through various locations in search of the Demon of the Netherrealm and other terrible adversaries. Although the Arcade mode function is intended for playing against central unit-controlled adversaries, a friend can still join the game by pressing START on the second controller. You will go to the Fighter Selection screen.
In Arcade mode, you will earn money as you win (note: make sure to load a profile first). Win as many matches as possible to accumulate money and buy items in the Krypt.
Versus (VS.)
Select this option to play against a friend or enemy. The Fighter Selection screen will appear.
Training
Mortal Kombat™: Deadly Alliance™ is a very different fighting game from previous versions. Even if you are a veteran of MK, you will need training to master the new combat control system. This option allows you to train with the fighter of your choice. Then, in the fighter selection screen in training mode, press UP, DOWN, LEFT or RIGHT on the CONTROLLER + to choose the fighters you wish to train with.
The Z BUTTON displays the Decor Selection option and LEFT or RIGHT on the CONTROLLER + scrolls through the arenas. Once the decor is chosen, press the Z BUTTON to return to the fighter selection screen.
No timer appears during combat, and your training opponent's energy bar automatically recharges. You can fight at will until you feel comfortable. The controller buttons you press are displayed on the screen; you can thus learn the correspondence between button combinations and certain movements. Training is a single-player mode. Take the time to test the fighters before inviting a friend.
Conquest
This mode will teach you to play for real. Faced with hundreds of different challenges, you will train and learn to master various movements and combat styles. Along the way, you will earn rewards allowing you to purchase weapons and other essential combat items in the Krypt.
Once your Conquest has begun, read the on-screen instructions to learn the required Mortal Kombat™ skills and complete your difficult journey. Before starting Conquest mode, you must load the player code you created using the Player Profile option. It is only possible to play Conquest mode with the Memory Card.
The Krypt
The Krypt is a gigantic room where 676 coffins rest. With the money you've earned, you can "buy" coffins to open and update their mysterious Content. You'll sometimes discover invaluable treasures like characters, new decors, or other times just a small object, or even nothing at all.
Before entering the Krypt, you must enter the player code you created using the Player Profile option. You can only access the Krypt using a Memory Card.
In the Krypt, press UP, DOWN, LEFT or RIGHT on the CONTROLLER + to move from coffin to coffin, and the A BUTTON to open it. The number and pieces inscribed on the coffin indicate the amount and color of the pieces needed to take a look.
The purchased items (sketches, photos, etc.) are saved under your profile name. View them using the CONTENT option in the Main Menu. To help you find objects, we have included a Krypt reference table.
Player Profile
With a Memory Card inserted into your NINTENDO GAMECUBE console, you can create a player profile and earn money to buy items in the Krypt. The following options allow you to create and manage your saved profiles: Create a Profile
Profile Name
First, assign a name to your profile. Press UP, DOWN, LEFT or RIGHT on the CONTROLLER + to choose a character, then the A BUTTON to make your selection. Repeat this procedure to spell your name. Select "SPACE" to insert spaces between letters, "RETURN" to delete them, and "DONE" to exit.
Choose an Icon
Press UP, DOWN, LEFT or RIGHT on the + CONTROLLER to choose an icon that will represent your profile, and press the A BUTTON to select.
Enter a Code
Select a sequence of buttons and create a Code that will be your profile's password with your controller. The Code window displays asterisks corresponding to the pressed buttons, until the entire Code is entered. After entering a Code, confirm it by repeating the sequence. Write your Code in the Krypt Reference Table so you can refer to it when you access your profile.
