The latest installment in the long-running NHL series brings several new features to the table. National Hockey League 06 , released on Gamecube in September 2005, boasts updated rosters and season schedules, as well as many other enhancements. The game's deking system has been revamped, allowing players to perform swift signature moves using the left analog stick.
The gameplay experience has also been improved with the addition of statistics such as speed and size, which are now reflected in the players' momentum and turning radius. Players can generate momentum for quick speed boosts to get past opponents. The introduction of R.P.M. (Realistic Puck Momentum) dynamics adds a layer of randomness to the game, making shots off the mask more unpredictable.
Other new features include the deformation of the ice during matches and improved player creation mode, where players can apply various injuries and scars using the thumbstick. The regular game modes are still present, including Dynasty Mode, which offers scouting and full management options.
Online multiplayer support is available on PC, PS2, and Xbox versions, while a special bonus includes the original NHL 94 game with the PS2 edition.
