NHL 06 , a new update for the long-running sports series, introduces several key changes to improve gameplay and realism. The story takes place in various hockey arenas across North America, where players are vying for championship titles and glory.
Gameplay has been enhanced with the introduction of new features, such as the use of the left analog stick for deking and quick signature moves. The accuracy when shooting can be improved by moving the target to the corners. Players' momentum and turning radius are also affected by their speed and size statistics.
New additions include R.P.M. (Realistic Puck Momentum) dynamics, which add randomness to shots on goal, and the deformation of the ice during matches. In player creation mode, players can now apply injuries such as bruises and broken noses.
All regular game modes are present, including Dynasty Mode, which offers scouting and full management options. Players can also intervene during simulated AI games to win matches for their team.
The NHL 06 game supports online multiplayer games on PC, PS2, and Xbox versions. A special bonus is included with the PS2 edition: a digital version of the original NHL 94 game.
