Bionic Commando Rearmed is a remake of the original Bionic Commando for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The visuals are updated to 2008's standards and it remains faithful to the gameplay and general mission structure of the 1989 game. It should be noted that the game remade is the North American release, so no Nazi symbols or references can be seen in the remake.
Gameplay involves completing levels using a grappling hook and bionic arm, which allows for swinging and traversal. The addition of co-op mode allows two players to play through the game together, while multiplayer modes offer various options for competitive play. Boss battles have been reworked to accommodate second-player gameplay, with varying enemy vulnerabilities.
Challenge rooms are also present, where players must complete levels without touching the floor using the bionic arm. These events are optional and time-based. Hacking involves solving 3D puzzles in a cyberspace-like environment, which may provide hints for destroying bosses on current levels. Overall, Bionic Commando Rearmed offers a fresh take on the classic game.
Bionic Commando Rearmed is available on the Xbox 360, released on June 25, 2009.
