Road Rash is an action-packed motorcycle racing experience set in the United States. Players take on the role of a rider competing in illegal bike races, with the ultimate goal of crossing the finish line first on a linear track. To achieve this, drivers must either excel at driving or resort to more aggressive tactics, such as using clubs or hand-to-hand combat to knock opponents off their bikes.
As players progress and win races, they'll have the opportunity to earn promotions to tougher divisions and accumulate cash to upgrade their ride. However, losing control of their bike or colliding with obstacles will result in costly delays and damage to their vehicle. If a rider is caught by the police during a crash, they may be forced to forfeit the race.
The game's design is rooted in arcade-style gameplay, prioritizing fast-paced action over realistic simulation. While Road Rash does offer a two-player mode, it is not simultaneous, adding an extra layer of competition to the experience.
