Days of Thunder brings the thrill of NASCAR racing to the Game Boy, thanks to a license from Tom Cruise's film. If you can mentally replace the driver names with those of real-life racers, it's easy to imagine this is a recreation of real racing rather than an exact replica of the movie.
You control Cole Trickle, one of several drivers, against your rivals on eight tracks based on real-life ovals. The races are all on oval tracks with varying lengths, corner types, and gradients - meaning that the ideal racing line can leave you in the wall on another track. You'll also have to qualify alongside the races.
When you pull into the pitstop area, you control the five members of the pit crew. Losing time in the pitstop will cost you positions at the race, while the other racers don't stop. The game requires strategy and quick thinking to outmaneuver your opponents.
