Despite being called The Walking Dead: Season Two , this release is actually only the first episode ( All That Remains ) of a five-part series. The game follows Clementine, who continues the story of the same name from the comic books and TV series. Everyone becomes a zombie, called "Walker", after death, and the series shows how the survivors react to their situation and interact with each other. The story is set over a year after the happenings of the first game.
The gameplay is largely unchanged compared to the predecessor, but with some differences. Clementine is not as strong as the previous protagonist Lee, so she is more often on the defensive. The player takes the role of Clementine and makes choices that influence how the remainder of the game plays out; the consequences may range from small to big.
The game uses a mix between direct movement of the character and using a cursor to choose an item to interact with. After hovering over an object, a list of possible actions pops up. However, puzzle-solving has been completely removed compared to the predecessor. The frequent action sequences play out in quick-time events or mini games under time pressure.
The other four episodes were released separately as DLC (downloadable content) or bundled as a Season Pass .
