The main mode of ATV Mania is the Championship mode, where players compete in an underground ATV championship circuit set amidst the French Alps. The objective is to win the races by any means necessary. Players can choose one of six different racers, each with their own unique ATV and ratings for speed, grip, and armor.

As players progress through the Championship mode, they earn points and cash based on their finishing position in each race. The player with the most points after completing all six races wins the championship. Additionally, players participate in interviews with a journalist who asks them questions from a list of responses, allowing players to earn extra cash by being cooperative.

Other game modes include Single Race mode, where players compete against another player or the computer's AI on any of the six tracks, and Time Trial mode, which allows players to attempt to complete the tracks as fast as possible.
