Mario's Picross is a puzzle game for the GameBoy console that challenges players to use logic to solve number-based puzzles. Nonograms, also known as picture-crosswords, are a type of puzzle where clues along the sides of the grid tell the player how many squares to fill in each row and column. By using logical reasoning, players can figure out which squares to fill in to reveal a hidden image.
In Mario's Picross , players take on the role of Mario, an archaeologist who chisels away at the squares in each playfield to reveal a small picture. The game features 256 different puzzles divided into four courses with increasing difficulty levels. Players must use their wits to solve each puzzle and unlock the next level.
