The player takes on the role of an ancient warrior brought to life by the benevolent wizard Wart in Record of Lodoss War . The evil goddess Kardis is about to be resurrected, and the only way to stop her is to gather famous heroes from the Lodoss War universe and defeat the evil ones in battle.
The gameplay of Record of Lodoss War is similar to that of Diablo. It's an action RPG with a focus on combat, where you can directly control only the main hero, while legendary heroes are controlled by AI. As you progress through the game, you level up, upgrade items using the Ancients system, and gain new spells. You can also forge weapons and imbue them with runes. Returning to your HQ, the Goblin Fortress, allows you to receive healing and restock on healing potions.
