Demolition Man is a game based on the 1993 movie by the same name. As with the movie, the game takes place in a dystopian Los Angeles, in 1996. John Spartan is the country's most fearsome cop and hunts his nemesis, Simon Phoenix. However in doing so, he kills several innocent civilians and both characters are sentenced to cryostasis rehabilitation where they will be brainwashed for 30 years. However the brainwashing does not go as planned and upon waking up, Phoenix goes on a new crime spree. However in 30 years the world has also changed and Los Angeles has become San Angeles, a utopian and violence-free society. As a remnant of a more violent past, police officer John Spartan is once again sent to capture Phoenix.
Demolition Man is a fast-paced platform game, with some levels taking place in an overhead perspective. As John Spartan, the player will spend most of his time shooting endless waves of "cryocons" released upon the antiseptic world of the future. The standard weapon can be upgraded with a shotgun and magnum, both with limited ammo. Additionally, various types of grenades can be collected, which are thrown independently of the firearm. Simon Phoenix appears as a boss character at the end of every level that is directly tied in with the movie.
The Super Nintendo version of the game retains identical levels and gameplay to the Sega CD version, but no additional features are mentioned.

Re: The Apprehension of Simon Phoenix
Simon Phoenix is wanted by the LAPD for multiple felonies, including murder, aggravated murder, attempted murder, assault, assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft, theft, and kidnapping. Phoenix is armed, extremely dangerous, and heavily supported by an underground network of weapons and stolen equipment suppliers. Previous apprehension attempts have failed, resulting in lost lives and destroyed property.
You will be transported via helicopter to the rooftop of an abandoned warehouse where Phoenix and his supporters are headquartered. Once you disembark, you will be on your own with no air support due to heavy surface-to-air firepower.
Your mission is to cross the rooftops, enter the building, find Phoenix, and bring him out alive. Take extreme caution to protect the thirty innocent civilian hostages believed to be held inside.
Disciplinary Warning
You are officially on departmental probation for previous recklessness resulting in damage to civilian property and personal health. While your passion is admirable, it cannot be at the expense of taxpayer property or well-being. Use only appropriate force to avoid further disciplinary action.

Re: The Apprehension of Cryo Prisoner Simon Phoenix
Ex-Officer John Spartan, you have been released from your cryo-synthesis incarceration unit after serving thirty-six years of your seventy-year sentence for reckless endangerment. You have been revived for departmental business only to assist the San Angeles Police Department in recapturing Simon Phoenix, who escaped during a routine parole hearing and committed four Murder-Death-Kills (code 187's).
It is believed Phoenix is heading to the County Museum of Human History to raid the "Hall of Violence" exhibit, which contains weapons spanning three centuries. Your objective is to stop Phoenix from robbing the museum and bring him back in for incarceration.

Re: The Apprehension of Cryo-Prisoner Simon Phoenix
The city's Resident Observation and Surveillance System has detected an open access port leading to the abandoned maintenance and utility tunnels of the under-city, known as The Wasteland. This is the last recorded sighting of Simon Phoenix.
Ride zip lines, traverse catwalks, and bungee jump your way down to the floor of The Wasteland. Eliminate the loyal cryo-cons posted as guards throughout the zip line level as you make your way to the bottom.
