Arle Nadja, the main character from the Puyoverse, finds herself in a predicament when her pet Carbuncle gets its hands on five golden runes. The runes have been scattered by Satan and each one is in the possession of a different character. Arle must now search for the runes, recover her friend, and uncover the plot behind Satan's actions.
The gameplay of Puyo Pop is straightforward yet engaging. You play as Arle Nadja, matching Puyos (which come in up to five colors) to make chains and overwhelm your opponents with Nuisance Puyos. Certain stages introduce Point Puyos, which grant bonuses when popped, and Hard Puyos, which require two hits to pop. After completing the main quest, Arle can explore new areas by collecting items that unlock additional content.
