NFL Street 2 is the second game in EA's arcade football series, where players try to become the world's best urban footballer by conquering other teams using several gravity-defying tricks. Players can use up-the-wall passes, off-the-wall catches, and highlight-reel wall jukes to outplay their opponents.
The gameplay is focused on arcade action, with a small number of players competing in arenas that can be used for run-up passes and receptions. Players can also earn bonuses by aiming for posters and hotspots. The game features twelve arenas to compete in, including two unlockable ones, and players are licensed from the 2004 NFL rosters.
Multiplayer is available on the PlayStation 2 (PS2), PSP, and Xbox versions, while single-player offers various game modes such as NFL Challenge, where players have 150 days to build a team to take on a squad of legends. Progress is based on milestones, with skills sharpened to reach the top or beat sufficient teams.
Another mode is Own the City, where players create a new character and must win all street games in the city to form a final team consisting of rapper Xzibit and an NFL star team. Characters created in this mode can be imported into NFL Challenge and Madden NFL 06.
The PSP version is a faithful port with some cut scenes removed, and three new street modes added for Wi-Fi multiplayer: Street Slalom, Style Point Challenge, and Style Standoff. Players can compete against each other in party play game modes such as the 2 Minute Challenge and Jump Ball Challenge on up to four players.
